Revolutionary application for iPhone brings parents and their babies closer

Barcelona, Spain – Biloop Technologic, S.L. is proud to announce the launch of the Cry Translator – www.crytranslator.com. This ground-breaking application is designed to help parents and caregivers learn to understand their baby’s first language – their cry.

While there is an acknowledged wealth of information available on nearly all aspects of parenting and child care, a key source of stress for new parents is the coping and response to infant crying. On average, a baby cries about three hours daily, causing frustration and worry to parents and caregivers. Until now, there were no practical technological solutions available to help guide parents along this journey.

The Cry Translator involves a revolutionary sound analysis technology that quickly identifies an infant’s cry, based on one of five emotional or physiological states: hunger, fatigue, annoyance, stress or boredom. These five cries are universal to all babies regardless of culture or language.

“The ultimate goal of the Cry Translator is not only to identify the reasons why the baby is crying, but to recommend guidelines for responding, which in turn will accelerate the learning curve for new parents”, say Pedro Barrera and Luis Meca, the creators of the Cry Translator.

The application interface is designed to be highly visual and extremely user-friendly. Babies’ cries are analyzed and identified within 10 seconds, with a 96% degree of accuracy, easing caregiver anxiety and prompting appropriate response to the baby’s needs. Once the cry has been identified, helpful tips to calm the infant are also provided.

“There is a tremendous amount of research supporting that babies who are responded to consistently and appropriately will cry less and develop stronger social and cognitive skills”, say Pedro Barrera and Luis Meca.

The application is the outcome of many years of research and development by Biloop Technologic, known for its innovations in the area of sound translation. The Cry Translator is now available in the iTunes AppStore for iPhone and iPod touch (with external microphone) in the US, Great Britain, France and Spain. Further expansion into additional global markets is planned.
